Now in its 18th year, Art Deco Weekend explores a century's worth of Miami Beach art and culture January 16-18, 2015. During the three-day weekend, you'll encounter an eclectic mix of free happenings at local hotspots.
Visit the Museum – Head over to 10th and Ocean Drive for the fascinating Lecture Series, with the museum opening each morning at 10 a.m. On Friday, the 6 p.m. lecture addresses "Art Deco Napier". Choose from three lectures on Saturday, held at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m. These topics cover "Mob in Miami Beach", "Lost Miami Beach" and "Art Deco Comes to Miami Beach 1925-1935" respectively. On the last day, you'll have a second chance to learn more about Art Deco, followed by a talk about American Art Deco Furniture.
Stroll along Ocean Drive – Each day, this central strip will be buzzing with activity. The fun will kick off on Friday with a full day of street entertainment, vendors serving local flavors and a festive street fair. These festivities will continue through Sunday. Visit the tour booth to take a specialty guided tour. On Saturday, stroll the street for the classic car show (between 5th and 8th) and a classic car parade. The classic cars will still be displayed Sunday, then the Art Deco Parade will start at 5th Street at 11:30 a.m.
Dance at the Promenade – Follow the music to sandy 12th & Ocean, where a long list of live music entertainment will energize crowds. Listen to live jazz, "swingsomnia" and show off your moves during the Dance-A-Thon.
