During your visit you can browse Haitian book and music stores, shop at hip boutiques, and pop into up-and-coming art galleries. Mom and pop shops sit right next to cool new spots, and don't miss the bronze statue of the father of Haitian independence,General Toussaint L'Ouverture. You can find it at Northeast 2nd Avenue and 62nd Street in the middle of "La Petite Haiti."

Little Haiti Cultural Center
At the heart of the neighborhood is the Little Haiti Cultural Center. Check out an art exhibit or see an exciting dance performance. This gem captures the spirit of the neighborhood and hosts a lively Caribbean market with music and food from Thursdays through Sundays.
