If a typical hometown parade appeals, head for Key Biscayne. The roar of the jet flyover at 11 a.m. signals that the patriotic floats and marching bands are ready, as the crowds wave little American flags in anticipation. Musicians and majorettes proceed south on Crandon Blvd. from Harbor Drive to West Enid. Bring the kids, or make it just for the kid in you.

All Day

One of the biggest events for miles around, Bayfront Park is open all day, offering a kid zone from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Expect the first boom of the fireworks at 9 p.m. Arrive early for a good spot in the park at N. Biscayne Blvd. on the bay in Downtown Miami.

Evening

How about fireworks at the ocean? Right on Miami Beach at 8th Street and Ocean Drive, find free concerts on the beach followed by a fireworks extravaganza. Just bring your own beach chair or towel and claim your spot.

If you’re liking the sound of fireworks at the beach, live music and fireworks as a salute to independence is staged by our good neighbors just to the north, the City of Ft. Lauderdale. It’s always exciting and it’s always free.

If you’re in the ‘hood or lucky enough to be on a boat, Black Point Park and Marina near Biscayne National Park at SW 87th Ave. is throwing their 20-minute fireworks display at 8:30 p.m.
